Tomatis Method

It is a system founded in the 1950s by Alfred Tomatis, (1920-2001), a French ENT doctor, and which is defined as a pedagogy of listening.

But what is listening?
 
Listening is the ability to use one's hearing intentionally and attentively, and in a way that is acceptable on an emotional level, for the purpose of learning and communicating.

Listening is an action: its implementation implies the ability to select an acoustic message among others, to inhibit sounds which are not relevant, to constantly readjust the content and the form of this message, and to immediately evaluate the result of this control.
 
It is therefore a high level cognitive function.
In no case is it to be assimilated to a passive recording of sound, which would simply depend on the proper working of the auditory apparatus.

Listening may be disturbed when the interpretation, on a mental or emotional level, of the sensorial information on which it is constructed is flawed. In this case, one speaks of distortions in listening. These distortions will then be the source of difficulties and discomfort as much for the child as for the adult, and can concern all situations of daily life.
The aim of the Tomatis method is precisely to determine the causes of these distortions, and to regulate them. 
 
How do we affect Listening?
 
The pedagogical or therapeutic tool of the Tomatis Method is called the Electronic Ear. 
The Electronic Ear is a system which exploits and reactivates the strategies involved in perceptive organisation and in the management of sound environment which the brain is normally able to use when listening is not disturbed.

But listening will be disturbed when there is a dysfunction of the two muscles located in the middle ear whose role is to enable the precise and harmonious integration of acoustic information into the inner ear, and from there to the brain. In this case, the brain will put in place a system of protection, triggering mechanisms which inhibit listening.

Thus, the role of the Electronic Ear is precisely to restore these two auditory muscles to their full working ability so as to remove.

Mouth Cover´s Fight

Last news at Mexico have been for swine influenza which is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by type A influenza that regularly cause outbreaks of influenza among pigs. Swine flu viruses do not normally infect humans, however, human infections with swine flu do occur, and cases of human-to-human spread of swine flu viruses has been documented. There seem the swine influenza started at United States and nowadays there are epidemics around Veracruz, San Luis Potosi and on Mexico City mainly. Everyone on the Mexican Republic have started in panic for the news currencies, for that everyone don´t want wave and kiss people by the fear to acquiring the illness and die. 

Have you known how difficult is to get a mouth cover and aderogyl nowadays?
Although you do not believe it many of people had gone out to search “mouth cover” still the illness has not coming on Tampico, My sister in law who living on Puebla was here these weekend and today she came back to her house. Her parents who called her ask for she buys some mouth covers because they did not search anyone at Puebla, they also were really alarmed, so she and my family went out looking for the mouth cover.

We started looking for mouth cover at Heb which recommend us go to drugstores because anyone supermarket buy them. Second place where we visited was “Farmacia Rubi” which is on Ejercito Mexicano Avenue, but it was closed and we have to continue looking for at another drugstore. The next drugstore was also “Farmacia Rubi” but this is on Hidalgo Avenue, near to Iglesia del Rosario, we asked for the clerk but she answered told us that sold out, maybe we will find them at Farmacias El Fenix, Farmacia del Amor or Benavides, so we continue our search. While we was going to Farmacias El Fenix I remembered about a friend who is studying medicine and I called asked for but already got “Sorry Liz, but I don’t have mouth covers”. When we came to Farmacias El Fenix someone said “I had going to everyone drugstore at Tampico and anyone haven´t”. I thought –“how could be possible that?”- I have to only one to my sister in law. It was 5:00 pm, it was so late, she was going to Puebla at 9:00 pm. And still she had to doing something before her trip. 

Suddenly my friend Emma called to give me our Final Report so, I also asked she if has someone mouth cover which could she gift me and my surprise was that her mother brought a package in her purse. I so happy because I found them.

Puebla´s Trip

Last week I traveled with my younger brother to visit my boyfriend and his family, it was a terrific experience, because I could be with my love also my brother and I met Puebla. Wow wow amazing week...!!! 

Puebla is a big city in a Mexican Republic center, officially Heroic Puebla de Zaragoza (nicknamed Angelópolis). The metropolitan area of the city, however, extends over 10 municipalities of the state of Puebla, such as the city of Cholula and 13 of the state of Tlaxcala, and with a population of 2,109,049 it is fourth most populous metropolitan area in Mexico. It is also one of the oldest colonial cities in the continent.

People say there are in Cholula around of 365 churches, I belive their!!! we can only visit 3 of those; they are very old and around of those there are some crypts, this is because, last century Cholula has not a cementery. 

If you want to go any place, Puebla has many molls to visit, buy things and maybe eat a snack, the main moll is Angelopolis; inside there you can find Cinepolis, Sears, Liverpool, Palacio de Hierro and another stores; but if you want to walk outdoors, you should visit the Zocalo; located downtown of Puebla; you can take a delicious coffee and some snacks while you listen romantic songs like troba infront of the Zocalo. The Cathedral is a beautiful and enormous place, their walls are covered in gold plating, nowadays the Puebla´s government had inverted to rebuilding it.

What about the sports and hobbies? there are 2 ice rink in Puebla, one is near Angelópolis, and the other is located on La Noria's plaza; near to a SAM's Club, it’s a cheap hobby, you only have to pay $70 to rent skates for unlimited time; also you can drive a go car or play a mini golfitos or even if you prefer to watch a movie on the cinema

Easter

Easter is the most important annual religious feast in the Christian liturgical year.

According to Christian scripture, Jesus was resurrected from the dead three days, after his crucifixion. Christians celebrate this resurrection on Easter Day or Easter Sunday(also Resurrection Day or Resurrection Sunday), two days after Good Friday and three days after Maundy Thursday. The chronology of his death and resurrection is variously interpreted to be between A.D. 26 and 36. Easter also refers to the season of the church year called Eastertide or the Easter Season. Traditionally the Easter Season lasted for the forty days from Easter Day until Ascension Day but now officially lasts for the fifty days until Pentecost. The first week of the Easter Season is known as Easter Week or the Octave of Easter. Easter also marks the end of Lent, a season of fasting, prayer, and penance.

Easter is a moveable feast, meaning it is not fixed in relation to the civil calendar. Easter falls at some point between late March and late April each year (early April to early May in Eastern Christianity), following the cycle of the Moon. After several centuries of disagreement, all churches accepted the computation of the Alexandrian Church (now the Coptic Church) that Easter is the first Sunday after the Paschal Full Moon, which is the first moon whose 14th day (the ecclesiastic "full moon") is on or after March 21 (the ecclesiastic "vernal equinox").

Easter is linked to the Jewish Passover not only for much of its symbolism but also for its position in the calendar.

Person Description.

Today I am going to talk us about someone who is my friend and I known since one year and a half, maybe you see her and can seem that she is the same person that last year, but isn’t her. When I knew her, she only was studying the degree in English Language, but now at the morning she is working like a teacher in a public school and every weekends she is studying another degree at UPN.

English Teaching Techniques

March 30th of 2009, Universidad Autònoma de Tamaulipas. 

Last Monday, March 30th of 2009 We had the extraordinary conference “English Teaching Techniques” by Dra. Gloria Maria Toledo.

The conference told us about how nowadays it is so important make use of technology at teaching- learning process, because it is easier to the student an interactive learning, they have the opportunity to create their techniques in their time and rate, the students get a meaningful learning and teachers lead their pupils. 

Dra. Toledo introduced us at the evolution of the English Teaching since we had made use of the different tools of technology like a:  Blogs, Second life, Podcast, Video conferences, Internet, Hot Potatoes, Ipods , Toolbooks, Wida, Electronic Boards.

The technology has some advantage to the education like a Motivation, Autonomy Method, Linguistic Abilities, Cooperative Learning, etc.

But it have also disadvantage to the education, because computers and different programs can be obsoletes, for that it is necessary always updates them.
